WHO AM I?

Good question. Trying to figure that out since 1982. Meanwhile I busy myself making films about things that interest, upset or touch me.

Through my work I try to give meaning to the world. I focus on stories that relativize our differences and elevate the humanity of all humanity. My interests range from our relation to nature, the fabric of reality and the technologies we create, to the personal perspectives through which we see each other and the world around us. My work is highly visual and auditory, combining intimate and down-to-earth human-interest stories with a unique, sometimes experimental and larger-than-life cinematic approach.

My studio is based in Amsterdam, from which I develop films from scratch or work alongside other artists on their projects. I focus on directing, editing and cinematography - simply because I can't choose which craft I like to do more (and because I'm convinced that working multidisciplinary benefits both the quality of my work and the joy of doing it).
